January 18, 2024 - AMINA BEGIC
At Amina Design Co, we’re rewriting the traditional script. Forget “new year, new me.” In 2024, it’s all about “new space, new me.” Your surroundings can affect your mood and mental health, which makes your home a significant part of how you feel as a person each day.
So while you’re taking down the holiday decorations, try one (or more) of these quick tips for refreshing your space and reap the benefits all winter long.
Rearrange the Furniture
This can make the space feel new and may even improve its functionality. Try different layouts, like angling furniture or creating new conversation areas. Be sure to grab some furniture slides if any of your pieces are heavy or awkward to pick up.
Add Faux Plants or Fresh Flowers
Bringing in greenery can instantly brighten a room. We’ve mentioned before that we love Afloral.com but there are plenty of options for adding a little life to a room.
Update Soft Furnishings
Swap out items like throw pillows, blankets, and curtains. This can be a cost-effective way to introduce new colors, textures, and patterns into your space.
Incorporate Mirrors and Reflective Décor
Before the 18th century, mirrors were often both small and expensive. Only the wealthiest homes could afford them. Now, though, mirrors come in all shapes, sizes, and price ranges and are a perfect way to refresh your space. Use mirrors and reflective elements to add depth and light to your room. Strategically placing mirrors can make a space feel larger and brighter, especially in smaller or darker rooms.
Improve Lighting
Lighting can drastically alter the mood of a space, and proper lighting is especially important at the darkest, coldest time of year. Add floor or table lamps to create ambient lighting. Upgrading to smart bulbs can offer you the flexibility to change the color and intensity of the light to suit different moods or times of day.
Resolutions are great, if you’re a resolution person. But these small changes can make just as big an impact on your well being this year.
